Data Exchange
With the latest update to PowerSchool I am not able to see the Data Exchange information in the left side bar on the start page with customizations turned on.  Does anyone know what I need to do to correct this?  Thank you!

This might be a stupid question ... but what's the Data Exchange info on the start page??

It is where you go to check on the Ed-Fi/Advisor stuff.

Is you EdFi plugin enabled?  After your post, I checked and noticed that mine was disabled.  Apparently, PowerSchool disables the EdFi plugin when it is is updated and forces one to re-enable it.  I did notice, though, that the EdFi Transaction Listener plugin is not on my list of plugins. Do you see yours on the list? This was on the list last school year.
I noticed the plugin PowerSchool Data Exchange (DEX)and enabled it. (Did this replace the Transaction Listener? )
From the District page, select System, then at the bottom of the next page under Data Exchange, click on General Setup where you should see your information from last year.

Maurice,
Thank you for responding.  I do have both plugins enabled and all of my set up data from last year is still there.

My problem is the Data Exchange link does not show on the start page if I have customizations enabled.  If i turn off customizations it appears.  Just wondering if anyone else has this problem and what I need to change in my customizations to correct this problem.

Try this: Start Page - ; District Setup - Dashboard Functions & Update School-Level Report Filters On a student I wasn't seeing our Data Exchange (Publishing) (Reconciliation) either and when I clicked this update.. they are not visible again. Kristy

and when I re-enabled the 2 plug ins.   I now see Data Exchange Nebraska is back on the initial start page - Kristy

they ARE visible again on the student page also

Well I tried that and still nothing.  Please refresh my memory on where exactly to find the Data Exchange on the student page.  I apparently can't see that either.  Thank you soooooo much for your help!

There will be an updated plug-in with the next State Reporting update.

I see it on a student on the left hand column.
............ We have INFORMATION - DATA EXCHANGE - ACADEMICS - ADMINISTRATION - ENROLLMENT - SCHEDULING - etc

Thank you Kristy, again I turned off customizations and then I do see that on the student page.

Thank you Peggy.  Maybe that will solve my problem!  One can only hope right!

That usually happens when you have either an old customization or a plug-in that is out of date.

Do you have any idea how I determine which customization or plug in is causing my problem?

There's a plug in available on PowerSource Exchange that will show you where your customizations are more easily than looking in PS Admin. It's called Blue Steel CPM. You can look at the dates or if there are duplicates. There's no easy way. It's finding the needle in the haystack. I've never done it, but I've heard of folks who take out every plug-in and customization (except those ones that they know aren't the problem) and then start from scratch.

I know one that often causes problems is the Custom Reports Bundle. Not any of the new downloads, but if you got in on that early and did it the old way where you moved the files one at a time, those files are still in there right beside the ones that came along with the newer plugins. If you have CRB, I'd start there.

The file that creates the main menu on the Start Page is
admin_nav_menu_left_css.txt and is in the Wildcard folder.

The customization that is causing the issue is probably an older customization that puts a new link in the main menu by customizing the admin_nav_menu_left_css.txt file instead of using a page fragment to insert the link.

I'm sure there are many customizations that modify the admin_nav_menu_left_css.txt file, but one I know of is OneStopAttendance. I believe Attendance Today may modify that file too.

To help figure out what customization is causing the problem. Look at your Start Page's main menu with customizations turned on, then turn off customizations and see what changes on the main menu. You can also compare the stock admin_nav_menu_left_css.txt file with the customized admin_nav_menu_left_css.txt file.

OK so....you were correct Wayne!  It was an old version of OneStop Attendance.   Now I have the Data Exchange on the Start page but I still cannot see it on the student pages.  Any guidance here?  Where do I find the left navigation page for students?

I appreciate this sooooo much!  Thank you!

Ok I'm having the same problem. But I'm not sure I deleted it correctly.  I found the Attendance Today file under - attendance - view in the custom pages and deleted it.  When I turned my customized pages back Data Exchange deleted again.

It is possibly worth mentioning that when customizations are on the only thing different is the data exchange section is going, otherwise everything else is the same.

I'm frustrated already and we haven't even begun to really USE EdFi and Data Exchange :(

Can someone PLEASE help

Tiffany, you will find there are many files that are associated with the Attendance Today customization.  Be sure you try to find them all especially the one Wayne mentioned :admin_nav_menu_left_css.txt file
I wish I could be more specific but I can't tell you which files exactly.  Just look for blue files that have to do with attendance.  Hopefully that will do the trick for you.

Then go to Power Data Solutions and grab the latest plug in for One Stop Attendance and install that one and you should be all set!

Sorry I didn't respond sooner Kris. The navigation links on the left side of the student's page is the more2 file, found at Admin > Students > more2.html

No worries Wayne!  I found it!  Thank you though!!!
