Has anyone noticed that the State/Province screen has changed.  The field for Alternate assessment prompts you to answer  "No for all student below Grade 03" but does not allow you to choose No as an answer.  I thought that maybe when I ran the report it would populate with a 2 but that is not the case....the field comes out blank.  (This is for just the student's screen I have changed this year....the screen that hasn't been touched is pulling correctly.)
When I looked on PowerSource at the Nebraska Extract Guide, it shows that the alternate assessment field is not being collected (Line 23) but the state documentation indicates that it is (which I believe).

One more thing, when I extract the report it is still pulling column 48 for Surrogate Appointed.  In the 14-15 template instructions, it is no longer asking for that information.

Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.  I know I could manipulate the data once it's been extracted but would like it to come out right from PowerSchool.
I appreciate this group!

I stopped putting that info into PwrSchool and pull it straight from SRS (found out some things were "lost in translation" from what was in SRS  on the IEP & the info our teachers gave me to put into SRS  (IE % of time with regular peers -vs- sped peers ---some people read that kind of question differently and have #'s from different areas of the IEP)
.
The SRS export pulls it exactly as it is in the IEP.
.
One problem in that though is if there is an error (or "red mark" in SRS) that student will not pull on the NSSRS export until that is corrected.  We are finding it is usually the IEP is just over 1 year or the MDT is just over 3 yrs.
.
So might need to get in the habit of uploading to NDE monthly to keep those current.  Hope that helps...& hope I don't run into issues with the way I do it...Thanks!

Lori,
You need to open a case up in PowerSchool so Dawn Colon our state person can fix it .
I have not updated my State reports yet so I have not run any reports yet.

Thanks Suzanne...I can sure open up a case.  Do I just do it through PowerSource and tag it a state reporting issue or do you have a way to contact Dawn directly?

Has anyone else had problems running the Student Summary Attendance report?  When I try to run the report, the report queue under the "started" tab it says N/A and the status is "pending".  I phoned support this morning and the recording said that JAVA was creating a problem with ReportWorks and Gradebook and referred me to Article 70834.  I hadn't heard of any talk on the airways about problems with running this report so just thought I would ask if anyone else was experiencing this.  Thanks in advance!

Have you tried restarting reportworks services on your server.

We are hosted....I will contact them and give that a try.  Thanks!

Lori,

Just go to District > System > System Setting and Reset Server.  May take just a few minutes but should take care of your problem.

I did some investigating just to see what fields I might need to have populated in PowerSchool for this report to extract correctly and I found this website which was helpful to at least see what data the CRDC was wanting.  Here is the web site and the instructions for the 2011-2012 school year are at the bottom.   http://www2.ed.gov/about/offices/list/ocr/data.html
Happy Reporting ;-)  Does anyone know if we will upload this to the portal or is this something we print out and send somewhere?

If you download the updated State Reporting Setup Guide from PowerSource, you get instructions on how to set things up in PS. However, it prints out a pdf and you need a .csv file to upload to the CRDC site. I used the pdf as a worksheet to enter data on the site, which isn't rocket science, just horribly tedious.

I was cooking right along through this until I got to the high school information for Part 2. They want to know the number of students who passed Algebra I. There's a place on the District page to put in store codes, but nothing I'm putting in seems to be extracting any data to the report. Is anyone else running into this? What are you using?

Is anyone else having issues with the portal?  I have tried all weekend and this morning to upload my student file and it just sits there.  It shows that they have received the file but it won't change to a green check (or a red X) so I can't put it in a batch.  I have put a ticket in with the help desk but am getting the feeling they are off for Columbus day.  Just checking if it's me or if anyone else is experiencing this.....maybe you guys are all done state reporting :-)

I am having a problem with establishing a connection between Oracle and powerschool.  Can anyone help me?
I can open up data on the PowerSchool side but when I open Oracle sql Developer to establish a connection and enter the username (psnavigator) and password, I get the following message:
Listener refused connection with the following error:  ORA-12505 TNS:listner does not currently know of SID given in connect descriptor.
I have tried going into system - security and changing the password in PowerSchool, but it still doesn't work.  I was able to establish a connection this summer so I am wondering if the upgrade to 7.0 changed something.
I have a teacher that is requesting data that I can only get out by running a sql so any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Our school stores grades at all quarters and both semesters.  In grades 9-12 we only have semester classes but the Jr. High have quarter classes.  My problem is that when I pull the student grades report, it is pulling an entry for high school student for each quarter and semester so I have an entry for all the quarters and both semester.....way too much information.  I have to ask the report to pull by quarters and semesters so that I get the courses completed for Jr. High students but then it pulls all of these duplicate records for my high school students.  Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance,

If you have separate schools set up in PowerSchool for 9-12 and 7-8 (i.e.  Logan View High School and Logan View Junior High School), you can select just one school at a time for the data extract.  After selecting the school you want, select the Reporting Periods you want (just S1 and S2 for high school, for example); CTRL-click (PC) or Command-click (Mac) will let you select multipe Reporting Periods.

Of course, this will give you two .csv files to work with that will need to be combined before final submission.

Unfortunately, my Jr and Sr. High are set up in one school.  I will try selecting a group of students and running the term needed for that group.  Thank you for answering my next question which was do I have to combine the data before I send it up or can send up separate submissions.

The Stored Grade Term selection on the Student Grades report page only relates to students in grades 9-12. The reason for this is grades are only reported 9-12, so records are pulled from two different tables. For 9-12, the records are pulled from Store Grades table (hence the selection of store codes), and for K-8 the records are pulled from the CC table. The terms for K-8 records will be automatically selected from the term length of the course.

Lori if you only select S1 & S2, you should get only the S1 & S2 records for the 9-12 students and you will still get the quarter classes for your JH students.

Hi,
Is anyone else experiencing a problem with the ethnicity field not pulling data from PowerSchool?  My ethnicity fields are populated but when I look at the student report, some student ethnicity fields are left blank ( random).  I have gone into PowerSchool and made sure the fields were populated so I am confused as to why it is doing this. Also I have 1 white student whose Race 2 is pulling black and Race 3 is white.  She only has one check box marked (WH).  Any thoughts?
Thanks!

Yes, I am and have opened a case with support.  Everyone seeing this problem needs to open a case so we can get this escalated.
