I'm assuming you all received the emails today from Powerschool Communities and Technote. Is PowerSchool 12.x going to change to PowerSchool 19.x with the next upgrade?? Am I reading that correctly? I guess the next version would be PS 13.x and some might consider that unlucky ...

1 Response to "PowerSchool version naming"

PowerSchool is changing how it's numbering it's new versions of PS.  Here is their explanation:

Updated Release Versioning: We are also taking this opportunity to standardize how we refer to product releases across ALL PowerSchool products, which will lessen confusion across product lines. The new version format will contain a year, month, maintenance indication, and escalation indication number, such as: 19.4.0.0

Year: 2019 = 19

Month: April = 4

Maintenance and Escalation indications: a number (1-9) = maintenance and/or escalation, 0 = no maintenance and/or escalation

FYI
PowerLunch 2nd Transactions is having an Issue

We were serving 2nd lunches and noticed we are not receiving a second transaction warning.

We have a contracted PowerSchool Tech who thinks the issue is in BATCHES - 2nd transactions are going into different batches and all being recorded as 1st transactions.

With this, we cannot be alerted to a 2nd lunch or search for 2nd lunches & if we get audited we cannot find the 2nd transactions.

This was not an issue last year or in prior years.

There are times that cashiers have to log out of their machines or go fix something and a new batch starts.   For example today... a computer crashed and the cashier had to log into a different machine.

And we have multiple lines and a student can go do a different cashier for the 2nd transaction & the cashiers do not have to stay logged into the same batch during the entire time we serve meals.

PowerSchool said:   this is a known issue and it has been targeted for a 12.0.2.4 release which would be the next patch, I do not have a release date but it should be soon.

Many districts have seen this and there are lots of cases submitted. But we have only seen this on servers running version 12.

Has anyone seen this on a non-version 12 server?

I'm pretty sure we're seeing the issue on PS 11.0.5. We just purchased Marcia Brenner Cafe plugin but I'm pretty sure it indicated a second purchase back when we saw the demo. No 2nd Transaction notifications are showing now.

It doesn't seem to be happening with schools that use A La Carte.

Other wonderful things that are happening: you can't record a transaction for a different day; on the serve lunch/breakfast page, the Last 10 transactions link only shows 1; the total sales page can't add, numbers are off from actual sales.

I just got the banner notice that my server will be updated to PS 12 on Sunday. Anyone else seeing this?

I've submitted a support case and turned off auto-updating on my server. But I thought PowerSchool would NOT auto-update you to PS 12 until you specifically requested it. Aren't they still supporting updates to PS 11?

We just installed a new registration forms package that isn't PS 12-ready, plus we're nowhere near ready for PS 12. =:-0

Is anyone else having a problem with the NSSRS Student Summary Attendance getting stuck in Report Que in PowerSchool?

I have tried it with the entire school and with just a couple of grades and it will not finish processing.

I have restarted ReportWorks and that finally stopped it (it would not cancel either).

Any thoughts?

Thank you

The reason was the PS update that came out on 6-8-18 - PS was supposed to apply the update but did not - even though I reported the issue to them earlier in the week.

Aimee Muehling let me know that this is known PS issues, they released the fix late Friday. The fix came down with the security update. If you run the latest release that will fix the problem see below

PowerSchool Release NotificationPowerSchool SIS 12.0.1.0

It is now corrected.

I just received our PowerSchool invoice and noticed we did not get billed for the former E-Registration plugin. We purchased it a couple years ago from Grant Wood AEA and it was bought by PowerSchool last year. I'm curious if anyone else who's been using E-Registration sees it on their PowerSchool invoice?? We are planning to switch to Phoenix Learning's SchoolForms in June but I'm wondering what happened to our E-Registration subscription. TIA

I just learned that PowerSchool purchased E-Registration last spring. (I guess I missed an earlier announcement.) Has anyone heard how this will affect E-Registration users, since PowerSchool also owns InfoSnap? Will they be merged? Will E-Registration be phased out and moved over? I don't remember the last time I saw a bill for E-Registration ...

When I go to run my report cards for the Elementary we have two different ways teachers have them listed.  By percent grade for grades 3-6 and by S/U grades for K-2.  My percent report cards are printing as they should.  When I print my K-2 report cards, I end up with a percent.  I have went into set up in system reports and changed from percent to current grade.  This gives me blank report cards.

Is there a spot in PS that allows me to print the S/U grades?  Or is this something that the system is no longer capable of?

Also, if there is no grades in some subjects, it gives that child a 0 instead of a dashed line.  Any ideas on fixing that?
