I have one teacher (and ONLY one teacher) whose courses are showing up in reverse order in his queue in PowerTeacher. I have hunted all over to see what could possibly be up and all the settings seem to be correct. When I log in on PT admin and look at his account, they are in the correct order. He's the only teacher in the building using Windows, and I wonder if it's some sort of cache file, but I'm PC illiterate and don't want to go trashing files unless I know what I'm looking for.

Any ideas or suggestions?

I'm considering entering our school's curriculum into PS as standards so that teachers can attach assignments to them and then we can track the curriculum. Is anyone else doing this?

I have a High School teacher using PT Gradebook asking this question :

(our iChat script:) I want cumulative points to get an A
You have to have accumulated 900 points
a kid could get 25 points one week
and get 175 the next week...
It wants to average everything into a percentage

How do you set this up in the gradebook?

We have set up a course in Power School labeled Elementary Music and then set up different sections for the different grades, such as 1st grade - section 1, 2nd grade - section 2, etc.  However, when the teacher goes in to put the grades in her gradebook all she sees is 7 Elementary Music courses with no course or section number.  Therefore, she has to click and open each course to see which grade it is associated with.  This is just one of several elementary classes set up this way.  I was wondering how other schools set up these courses or if there is way to see the course/section number in Teacher Gradebook.  Thanks.

ahve the teachers under course info put in a cistom display name like period 2. Then go to preferences, sections and use custom display name. This is what we do.

Thanks all for the help in getting a link for teachers and grade. I have 2 teachers out of 80+ that can't seem to get it on there computers. I have checked it out and it is driving me crazy.

We checked all the pref and when we click on Gradebook from powerteacher, we see that the link is downloaded to where ever. It opens and everything is find. We close gradebook and the file disappears to the unknown. Not in trash or anything. So we click on the link again from Powerteacher. After it opens, we copy that .jnlp file somewhere else. Close everything, then try to click on the .jnlp file, we get the login for the gradebook but it will not accept the password/login combo. Says a bad password but it is right. Just these two computers it is happening to. One is 10.4 the other 10.5.8. i have spent an hour looking at all the java, web settings and everything but no joy.

Any help out there?? (Pink Floyd)

I have one teacher who can't seem to open her grade book. She can log in just fine, but when she attempts to open the gradebook, it opens to Text edit.

It doesn't seem to make any difference what web browser she uses. I've compared her Java settings to mine and they appear the same. I can log in as her on my computer and it opens just fine.

I'm at a loss. Any ideas???

Is the user on a Mac?  Mac 10.5.7 moved the Java Web Start file to the System>Library>Core Service.  You need to find it when launching the web grade book.   It use to be in a Jave folder in Utilities.
Just had this issue yesterday.

There was a previous post about Java update 11 and not to install it because it would cause PTG issues.  While this did not affect us it seems the latest release of Java 1.6.0_12 for windows does.  I have verified this on multiple systems.

I am looking for places to learn some basic JAVA so I can do some java customizations in PowerSchool.  There are lots of sessions at PSU that deal with JAVA and I would like to take these classes.  However, I would like a basic foundation before going to PSU so I don't waste my time in the class.

Brian, I was at PSu this summer and took the basic and inter on java. I have very little coding experience except for html and basic, basic DOS (yes a long time ago). It was easy. They really build from one lesson to the next. They had us doing some pretty cool things that in my classes and then idea's just started to fly around. I would not worry at all about it.
