We have two students who are .10% difference in GPA in their senior class. This obvioulsy sets one at #1 and one at #2.  We have been trying to look at variables (ex: indepth classes, honor classes, etc.) that will affect GPA for their last semester. Does PowerSchool have a tool that can calculate a projected GPA with a what if---example what if they switch to a weighted class, etc.  Thanks!

No, PowerSchool doesn't have that capability. The best option would be to export the student's grades into Excel and run the what ifs there.

Is there a way to set PowerTeacher PRO to allow teachers to take attendance after the current date (like there use to be in PowerTeacher)??

We have an afterschool program that does not always get done with attendance that day - she comes in early to prepare and hoped to be able to get caught up on the previous days attendance but I cannot see where I can adjust this in PTPro.

Thank you

Teachers take attendance in the teacher portal, which is called PowerTeacher. There are two gradebooks: the old PowerTeacher gradebook and the new PowerTeacher Pro gradebook.

So teachers are still taking attendance in PowerTeacher (the portal, not the gradebook) like they always have. The setting for determining when teachers can take attendance is still under School > Preferences.

I was there  under School > Preferences, but it was not seeming to work.
I had to update my browser and it worked but I had to choose "Number of school days teachers may alter
attendance prior to current date (PowerTeacher)" to make it give me days in the past.

THANKS ALWAYS WAYNE!!

If any of you are using the MBA Covid Plugin for contact tracing and have courses set up to track students for coaches/sponsors, how do you avoid picking those students up for contact tracing?

could someone please tell me what table incidents are found in?  Thank you!

You can only find incidents using the Data Export Manager. It is not a table you can locate through DDE.

Thank you!   So... is there a way to delete  incidents?

I'm assuming you want to delete them in mass. Otherwise, you can delete them individually.

Good morning PowerSchool/Adviser Braintrust,

I have a student whose parents have decided to homeschool them.  This student receives SPED services.  I'm guessing I leave them enrolled in PowerSchool but not enrolled in any classes.  There's no way it's this easy as there has to be somewhere I indicate they are homeschooled.  Thanks for any help you can provide and stay safe everyone.

Good Morning,

We also have numerous students who are in this category. To both document their services, and to avoid the ADVISER error that the student is enrolled at the school, but not in any courses, we enroll these students into a SPED Services course.section with a certified teacher (usually their Case Manager).

We do the same thing.  Just enter the appropriate membership share for their service time - this would be a decimal number.

Thank you for the input.  What State Course Code (ID) did you use for this course?  180000 for self-contained classroom?

Is anybody having issues getting their Calendar to publish?       I have checked everything and I don't see anything that is wrong.    Because my calendar is publishing it is causing lots of issues on other reports.      Any suggestions to check?

I am looking into ways of scheduling parent teacher conferences so we can be virtual.  How are your schools scheduling virtual conferences?  Is anyone using Meet the Teacher, a powerschool plugin?  Thank you!

We used signup.com.  I didn't know about Meet the Teacher.  If you use it, let me know how it goes.

Where can I find additional info on Meet the Teacher?

Thank you!

We are still going to use our existing SignUp Genius (we use the free version) forms for parents to sign up for conference times.

Each teacher will then create a single Zoom meeting for use for conference purposes and share the link with parents.  Parents will then join the meeting a few minutes before their scheduled time, be put in the waiting room, and then approved when the teacher is ready.

Or at least that's what we think will work for us.

Has anyone experienced a "bug" in Powerteacher Pro. I have had two teachers this week notice that when they enter grades into powerschool it is adding a decimal and 7 places past the decimal (ex: 35.9999999). It does this on some students but not all. We have checked their settings. One teacher experienced this earlier in the week and it has not repeated since; however, happened to a teacher again today. Attached a screenshot.

Hi Patty,
What version of PowerSchool are you currently on?

We had this happen for one or two teachers. I our case clearing the browser cache fixed the issue.

Have them try that.

In our case making sure all three boxes under Settings > Display Settings >Values to Show in the Traditional Grade Column are checked solved the issue.

There is a known bug in 20.4.3.1, which is fixed in the update that was released last week, 20.4.4.

From PS's release notes:

PowerTeacher Pro -
Assignment Point Score Displays the Entered Score with Multiple Decimal Places When Saved In some cases, the displayed saved assignment score would have multiple decimal points. This issue is now resolved. PSF-28788

Can anyone tell me if we are to begin publishing yet or not, and do we still use 3.1 or has there been an update that I am not aware of?

Thanks!

The new State update should be coming out really soon, possibly today. After you get your server updated, you can publish and start having fun!

Can anyone tell me if we actually need to complete the new Crisis Event Page for each student?  If we do can you please tell me if that can be done with fill Field Value or an Import.  I found the export fields but cannot get the information to import back in.  It appears to me that when you create a Crisis Event it assigns a Crisis Event Student DCID (that is completely different from the DCID or ID) and Event ID and I cannot find the table to import the information back in.  Thank you for ANY help with this!

Hello Kris,

Sheri Schultis was nice enough to walk me through it. The easiest way to make sure you are working with all of the correct fields and tables is to manually enter the data on 1 student.

Then go to: Start Page > Special Functions > Importing & Exporting

Select Data Export Manager

For Category Choose: Database Extensions

In the Export from find: S_STU_CRISISEVENT_C

Select all of the fields from that extension and export.

You will now have the template you need for your import.

The only fields you need to fill data in are:

STUDENTS.DCID
S_STU_CRISISEVENT_C.endDate
S_STU_CRISISEVENT_C.eventDescriptor S_STU_CRISISEVENT_C.startDate

Leave the rest blank.

Once you have all your data filled in go to: Start Page > Special Functions > Importing & Exporting

Choose Data Import Manager

Select your file
Import into: S_STU_CRISISEVENT_C

You only need to map from your file the fields I listed above.

Import

Your all set then.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thank you so much for this info but I still seem to be confused.

Is there a difference between STUDENTS.DCID and S_STU_CRISISEVENT_C.StudentsDCID?  How do I find either?

There is no difference, The Student.DCID is used for the S_STU_CRISISEVENT_C.StudentDCID.

If you export out all of your students via quickexport, and check the box to include DCID, that ID is what you will use to import into that table.

Is anyone else having an issue with their dual credit courses not reporting correctly?  I have several courses/sections showing up in my Adviser validation as dual credit when they are not.  With students enrolled receiving dual credit as well.
In PowerSchool, I do not have any courses/sections marked as dual credit, but after grades are stored, I go to the student's historical grades for those who received dual credit and mark the fields.
Right now in Adviser validation, I have a large number of sections showing dual credit and one class that should be showing is not.  Does anyone have any idea where Adviser is pulling this information from. Last year I had no problem at all.   I have double checked everything I can think of.  I am thinking it has to be at the section level but I'm stumped.
I am on the latest reporting version.  20.5.1.0.2.0
Thank you in advance!

Lori,
Yes are starting to see this as well.  Please open a ticket with PS (we will be doing the same thing) I will talk with the PS development team on Thursday about this as well.

If there are any other districts with this issue please open a ticket with PS.

Thanks,
Aimee

Which of these sessions would you recommend for a school nurse, or is there anything that would apply?

That is a good question. We don't get a lot of interest from nurses, so we don't have anything specific to them, so it depends on how well they know PS. If they are new to PS, I would recommend PS 101 and the sessions on utilizing reports and form letters.

What session(s) will Roger Sprik be leading?

Has anyone else noticed that the Teacher Attendance Submission page will not display who has or has not taken attendance until mid-morning?

We try to check by 8:30 am so we can start prompting teachers to take attendance and then calling to see where absent students are.

I wonder if there is a time setting someplace or something that PS can adjust?

Go to:  School< Attendance < Teacher Attendance Submission

Thank you

Ours displays right away.  I also check every morning to see who has taken attendance and it is showing up for us.

MAYBE this is it????

I found in the PS Community that someone else said "Teacher Attendance Submission Status report does not display correctly in 19.11.0.0"

     We are on version 19.11.0.0
They did not say what was not working but ? the response was:
A Fix has been released in PowerSchool 19.11.0.1.
